Ski holidays in Vail

Vail is justifiably one of the best ski resorts in the US, famous for its Back Bowls. THE Village is quite different to its neighbours - the architecture here is distinctly Tyrolean and if you close your ears you might well think that you are somewhere in the Alps.

This is definitely a resort which can be enjoyed by non-skiers as well, with a wealth of shops, boutiques, art galleries and spa treatments available. As in most US ski resorts the grooming of the wide pistes is superb, which affords the beginner ideal conditions to learn rapidly. Intermediate and advanced skiers will thoroughly enjoy the skiing whether they stay on the resort side of the mountain and the pisted runs or venture over into the back bowls. This excellent ski area boasts some very challenging un-pisted terrain where substantial powder is usually to be found. The Back Bowls, predominantly for good intermediates and above, were extended two seasons ago with the opening of Blue Sky Basin, which has expanded the area by another 645 acres. The Back Bowls of Vail provide the unique experience of off-piste terrain, which is controlled by the ski patrols.

Another unique feature of Vail is Adventure Ridge. This area, located at the top of the Gondola at Lionshead provides a wide range of exciting mountain activities including tubing, snowmobiling, ski biking, thrill sledding and ice skating. This is the largest winter "theme park" in North America - and possibly the world!
